HONG KONG -- "At Art Basel Hong Kong, people appreciate beauty," says Sweden-based Finnish artist Juri Markkula, who is preparing to exhibit at ABHK for the seventh time in this year's end of March show. "In Sweden, people comment on my concept, how the edges of my works are cool ... but in Hong Kong, they comment on their beauty."

Angelle Siyang-Le, director of ABHK for the last three years, says art lovers are increasingly treating Asia's biggest art show as a meeting point. "People follow the artists and the galleries but they actually want to see their mates. They want to exchange ideas, talk about the future. It's that energy which we attract."
