On a clear, sunny day in July, Yuval Zohar boarded a ferry at Kagoshima port, on Japan's southwestern island of Kyushu, and headed to the tiny island of Iojima (not to be confused with Iwo Jima, famous for a bloody battle during World War II).
After a four-hour boat ride Zohar arrived at the remote, sulfuric island, where he rented a bicycle and pedaled through tropical shrubbery to his destination -- a natural hot spring bath right on the ocean known as Higashi Onsen.
