Tourists to Japan boosted spending 13% in April-June

Tally tops $8bn, reaching record as visitor numbers grow

Tourists in Kyoto. Visitors from the U.K., Italy and elsewhere in Europe stayed longer and spent more in Japan during the April-June period.

TOKYO -- Travel expenditures by visitors to Japan increased 13% year on year to 1.07 trillion yen ($8.37 billion) in the quarter ended in June, the Japan Tourism Agency said Wednesday.
