BALI, Indonesia -- On the Indonesian resort island of Bali, one word is now inescapable: "wellness" -- a loose concept encompassing a hippyish approach to health, environmentalism and spirituality.

Tourism to Bali has long been associated with these ideas, from early backpackers looking for eastern wisdom to the legion of visitors inspired by Julia Roberts' 2010 film "Eat, Pray, Love." But the emergence of wellness as a global trend over the past decade has driven this element of the island's branding into overdrive.
