TOKYO -- Japan will allow young foreigners in the country on working holiday visas to renew their status, inviting them to stay a little longer and work at popular tourism destinations.

Until now, those arriving in Japan could only obtain the visa once. Japan this month began allowing visa renewals with five countries, including the U.K. and Canada. The plan is to expand the list of countries and regions eligible for renewals to about 10 by March.
