PARIS -- From everyday items to folk art and crafts, Japanese home goods are capturing the imagination of Parisians.

Shops dedicated to homeware made in Japan are sprouting up around the city, mixing slick modernism and traditional handicrafts in a reflection of Parisians' taste for high-end lifestyle items inspired by alluring images of Japan. This craze is not unlike the hygge -- Danish for cozy and comfortable -- Scandinavian hype that swept France and Britain a few years ago.
