TAIPEI -- Two weeks before Taiwan's Jan. 13 presidential and legislative elections, China's state media released a New Year's music video calling on Taiwan's people to "walk together with one heart and one mind" alongside their bellicose neighbor.
China Central Television broadcast the music video "Tomorrow Will Be Better" on Dec. 31, sung by a group of Chinese and Taiwanese artists, including the internationally known Taiwanese actors Michelle Chen Yanxi and Nicholas Wu Qilong, known as Nicky Wu. "The two sides of the [Taiwan] Strait are one family," Chen and Wu both say over the music, echoing Chinese strongman Xi Jinping's own words.
