KUALA LUMPUR -- Malaysian billionaire tycoon Ananda Krishnan died on Thursday at the age of 86. Building prominent businesses in various sectors from oil to telecommunications and satellites, and with a close relationship with former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, Krishnan played a significant role in the country's corporate history.

"I extend my condolences to the late Ananda Krishnan's family, and may they remain strong in facing this trial. The late Ananda Krishnan's contributions to the corporate world, philanthropy, and society will surely be remembered," said Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, expressing his condolences on social media on Thursday.
