TOKYO -- Japanese singer Shinji Tanimura died on Oct. 8, his agency announced on Monday. He was 74. The cause of death was not given, but he had reportedly had surgery for enteritis in March after fighting the illness for some time.
He found fame across Asia with his song "Subaru," and also wrote many hit songs including "Fuyuno Inazuma" ("Lightning in Winter").
