BANGKOK/YANGON -- Tin Oo, co-founder of the National League for Democracy (NLD), Myanmar's political party led by pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi, died on Saturday, a NLD source told Nikkei. He was 97.

According to the source, Tin Oo passed away at a hospital in Yangon. The direct cause of his death is not known. He had reportedly been hospitalized in February with multiple symptoms.
