Philippine ex-President Fidel Ramos dies at 94

Former military officer helped topple dictatorship of Ferdinand Marcos Sr.

Philippine former President Fidel Ramos, who ruled the country between 1992 and 1998, died on Sunday aged 94, online news site Rappler reported.   © Reuters

MANILA -- Former Philippine President Fidel Ramos, who succeeded Corazon Aquino to lead the country from 1992 to 1998 and pushed forward economic reforms, died Sunday at 94.

Presidential press secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles announced Ramos' passing on Facebook. He died of complications from COVID-19, according to local media.
