TOKYO -- Oscar-winning Japanese musician and composer Ryuichi Sakamoto died on March 28 at the age of 71, his management company has announced.
Sakamoto, born in Tokyo in 1952, began playing as a studio musician while in graduate school at Tokyo University of the Arts, working with artists such as Tatsuro Yamashita and Taeko Ohnuki.
