KUALA LUMPUR (Jun 28) -- Maxis, Malaysia's second-largest mobile telecom company by revenue, said it has received a letter from U Mobile for the termination of Network Sharing and Alliance Agreement for 3G radio access network.

The termination will take place in stages over a period of 18 months with completion on Dec. 27, 2018, the company said in an exchange filing.

The Network Sharing and Alliance Agreement was first announced on Oct. 21, 2011, said Maxis, adding the termination is not expected to have a material effect on its financial results for 2017.
