70 years after WWII, it's time for a global governance revamp

The year 2015 marks key anniversaries of several events that have shaped global politics, diplomacy and economics, perhaps the most important being the end of World War II seven decades ago.

It has been 60 years since Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party was formed; 50 years since Japan and South Korea normalized diplomatic relations; 40 years since the world's leading industrialized economies launched their annual summit talks; 30 years since the Plaza Accord initiated a decline in the dollar; 20 years since the World Trade Organization was established; and 10 years since the Kyoto Protocol on global warming took effect.
