TOKYO -- Japan's Daio Paper will focus on diaper sales in Southeast Asia and China as the company aims to double overseas operating profit in the two years through fiscal 2017 to reach 4 billion yen to 5 billion yen ($39.9 million to $49.9 million).
Daio Paper's new Indonesian diaper factory started operations this year and began shipments in March. The company produced an authenticated halal diaper, adhering to Islamic law, to market itself as a safe, reliable brand for Muslims in the country. Indonesia is Daio Paper's second-largest production site in Southeast Asia after Thailand, and both locations contribute to the company's supply of reasonably priced disposable diapers for the region.
