Fuji Heavy, Mazda seen logging record profits on SUV boom

TOKYO -- Japanese automakers Fuji Heavy Industries and Mazda Motor are expected to report their best operating profits ever for the nine months through December after a run of SUV-driven sales growth in the U.S. and Europe.

     Subaru maker Fuji Heavy's group operating profit likely soared about 40% on the year to around 430 billion yen ($3.55 billion), while Mazda's is seen climbing slightly more than 10% to about 170 billion yen.
