Hitachi, Panasonic among those cutting estimates on emerging-market slowdown

Hitachi's Executive Vice President Toyoaki Nakamura announced 9-month earnings.

TOKYO -- Many of Japan's electrical equipment and component manufacturers are downgrading their earnings forecasts due to slowdowns in China and other emerging economies.

     Of 72 major companies in the industry that had released April-December results by Wednesday, 23 lowered projections for sales and profits, while only six upgraded such forecasts.
