Japan Airlines' operating profit slides 20%

Part of Japan Airlines' fleet at Tokyo's Haneda Airport.

TOKYO -- Fewer business travelers and higher labor costs during the April-September period conspired to push down Japan Airlines' consolidated operating profit by 20% from the year-earlier period, the carrier is expected to announce.

The consolidated operating profit is expected to come to around 95 billion yen ($906 million) for the period. The airline is also expected to downgrade its earnings estimate for the full fiscal year through this coming March.
