Toyo Ink's profit seen slightly down on sluggish demand for LCD ink

TOKYO -- Toyo Ink SC Holdings' operating profit for the April-December period appears to have edged down on the year to just below 14 billion yen ($119 million), weighed down by lackluster sales of color-filter ink used in liquid crystal displays.

While a drop in material costs linked to cheap crude oil improved margins in resin and ink products, sales lacked momentum for the mainstay color-filter ink used in LCDs for smartphones and televisions. Sales for the period likely came in roughly flat on the year, at a little over 210 billion yen.
