China could play a bigger role in mediating global conflicts

With the world beset by nearly 60 wars and the threat of global conflict, both the will and the means to end them seem beyond the usual channels for peacemaking, either at the United Nations or in the U.S. and Europe. Perhaps the time has come for new actors to step up and play the role of mediator, among them China.
