A meteoric rise in India's imports of heavily discounted Russian crude oil over the past year and a half, engendered by Western sanctions against Moscow over the invasion of Ukraine, has prompted a gush of commentary. Not a small part of it has been negative, but much of the concern and criticism has been misplaced.
