It's time for allies to de-risk from the U.S.

As Washington grows more transactional, partners must confront tech dependence

For years, China-watchers have warned that relying on Chinese tech could give Beijing coercive leverage. But in March, it was not China, but the U.S. that made that risk real. Satellite company Maxar cut off Ukraine's access to imagery under a U.S. government program, following Washington's decision to halt intelligence-sharing with Kyiv.
