No one should be afraid of a NATO office in Japan

Presence of liaison will not affect regional security balance

News that NATO intends to open a liaison office in Tokyo has set off heated, and often misguided, international debate since the first reports emerged in May. China has harshly criticized the proposal and France has expressed opposition from within the alliance.
