Dialogue with both China and Southeast Asian nations crucial for island's security

Taiwan President Lai Ching-te's inaugural address last week has set the stage for his new administration to tweak the policy course set by predecessor Tsai Ing-wen. In particular, Lai's remarks have evoked two concerns, while also offering a glimmer of optimism.
