Six months have passed since Hamas, the militant group that controls the Palestinian territory of Gaza, attacked Israel. The warfare that has ensued following Israel's retaliation has triggered a chain reaction leading to a tremendous loss of life, including innocent civilians.

Concerns are growing that the situation could escalate, with Iran and other neighboring powers being drawn into the conflict. The international community must do everything in its power to bring the war to a quick end.
