Former U.S. President Donald Trump was shot and injured at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on July 13. The incident happened just as the Republican Party was about to officially nominate him to be the candidate for the next presidential election at its national convention. This attempt to oppress free speech by force is a challenge to democracy and must not be tolerated. We strongly oppose this brutal act.

Trump posted on social media that he was "shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear." Nonetheless, he was able to attend the party convention on July 15 and duly received the nomination.
