With over a month having passed since Ukraine launched a cross-border attack into Russian territory, the failure of Moscow's invasion campaign is becoming increasingly apparent. We hope the U.S., Europe, Japan and other democratic nations step up their support for Kyiv so it can regain all of its territory.

On Aug. 6, Ukrainian special forces launched a surprise attack in Russia's western Kursk region. Russian President Vladimir Putin's government had underestimated the possibility that another country would launch ground operations inside the territory of a nuclear power, and Ukraine took advantage of that. Kyiv says it has now taken control of an area covering over 1,290 square kilometers.
