Despite an unprecedented need for leadership, many U.S. voters were left anxious after the first presidential debate, where the two candidates directly faced each other.

At 81, Joe Biden, the oldest-ever sitting president, was lackluster with a hoarse voice and stumbling speech. His answer about government debt, for example, did not clearly address the question that had been put to him.
