Taiwan, one of America's long-standing partners, does not appear to be immune to U.S. President Donald Trump's tariff threats against both friends and foes. Throughout his campaign for last November's election, Trump repeatedly accused Taiwan of "stealing" chip business from the U.S. while suggesting it relies too heavily on American military protection without paying its fair share.
