Asian PMI readings paint a mixed picture

Clouds loom for Southeast Asia, with outlook index at 32-month low

TOKYO -- Business activity in Southeast Asia picked up overall in February, but manufacturers' outlook for future output was less rosy, the latest Nikkei Purchasing Managers' Index shows.

The headline Nikkei ASEAN Manufacturing PMI rose 0.3 point from January to 50.3, moving above the 50 boom-or-bust line for the first time since September.
