Malaysia mulls trade options without TPP

RCEP becomes foremost regional trade pact with U.S. trade policy shift

Mustapa Mohamed, Malaysia's trade minister, said in Hanoi on Thursday that the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership is replacing the Trans-Pacific Partnership, which is being scuttled by the incoming Trump administration.

HANOI -- A Malaysian trade official said on Thursday that a regional trade pact involving China and Japan will replace the Trans-Pacific Partnership, which is being scrapped in the wake of the U.S. presidential election last month.
