Japan, US affirm cooperation in fight against Islamic militants

NEW YORK -- Japan's foreign minister on Tuesday expressed support for U.S.-led airstrikes against the Islamic State in Syria, offering humanitarian aid to refugees fleeing the Sunni militants who have terrorized the region.

     In a meeting here with Fumio Kishida, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry explained the airstrikes conducted jointly with Arab nations and plans going forward.
