MANILA -- U.S. President Donald Trump canceled his appearance at the East Asia summit, a gathering of 18 countries including China, Japan and India being held in Manila on Tuesday.

The summit, which was part of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations summit in the Philippine capital, was nearly two hours behind schedule.

The president, who is now aboard Air Force One, has already left Manila, the last stop on his lengthy Asian tour.

According to Reuters, the president delivered a speech during a lunch with summit leaders. U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is taking part in the summit on his behalf.
