ULAANBAATAR Leaders from 51 Asian and European countries agreed to uphold a "rules-based" global order on July 16, at the end of a summit intended to focus on economic cooperation but dominated by discussion of geopolitical tensions and terrorism.
"As shifting geopolitics lead to greater uncertainties and volatility in the world, ASEM [the Asia-Europe Meeting] will reinforce its role as a catalyst for effective multilateralism and a rules-based international order," read a part of the Ulaanbaatar Declaration on the Asia-Europe Meeting into the Third Decade.
