WASHINGTON -- Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Chinese President Xi Jinping could try to de-escalate a territorial dispute in the East China Sea by agreeing to reduce patrols in the area, says author and Harvard University professor emeritus Ezra Vogel.
The disputed islets, known as the Senkaku Islands in Japan and the Diaoyu in China, have become a constant source of friction between the two neighbors.
