Abe cabinet's approval rating bounces back to 46%

TOKYO -- The approval rating for Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's cabinet has rebounded after a dip in July, a Nikkei group poll conducted Friday through Sunday found.

The rating improved 8 percentage points from July to 46%, while the disapproval rate dropped 10 points to 40%. In July, the disapproval rate topped those who approved for the first time since December 2012 when began Abe his second stint as prime minister. The approval rate rose for the first time in four months, and both figures were restored to their June level as the negative impact of the lower house passage of new security legislation faded.
