WASHINGTON -- A group of mostly Asian American parents is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to hear a case on the admission standards at an elite Virginia high school, saying policies aimed at promoting diversity discriminate against Asian American applicants.

At issue is admissions criteria adopted by the Fairfax County School Board for Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, locally known as TJ and often ranked among the top high schools in the country.
