SYDNEY -- Half of Australians are concerned about the rising cost of living, pushing the issue of inflation to the top of the agenda of the campaign for Saturday's federal election.

The Ukraine war has pushed up prices across the world, and Australia is no exception. The country's consumer price index hit a 20-year high in the first quarter, growing 5.1% from a year earlier as costs for gasoline, home building and food rose.
