Beijing has $40 billion for Silk Road nations

BEIJING -- The Chinese government said Saturday that it would establish a $40 billion fund for infrastructure development in what it calls Silk Road Economic Belt nations.

     With the plan, China hopes to gain clout in neighboring countries. In that regard, the belt shares the aim of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, an international financial institution established with significant cash contributions from China.
