Hun Manet pledges 'peace, stability' as new Cambodian PM

45-year-old son takes top post from strongman father who had held power since 1985

PHNOM PENH -- As he formally became Cambodia's new prime minister on Tuesday, Hun Manet said his cabinet will follow the "heroic examples" of its predecessors.

Manet was confirmed as prime minister after a vote of confidence in Cambodia's parliament, the National Assembly. The 123 lawmakers present voted unanimously to approve the new cabinet under Manet.
