BEIJING/HONG KONG -- China's annual political show, known as the "two sessions," closed on Monday after just over a week of conferences and events in the nation's capital.

Following the conclusion of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the top political advisory body, on Sunday, the National People's Congress (NPC), the rubber-stamp legislature, ended after passing seven items. This included an amendment of the law that defines the nature and duties of the State Council, China's central government. All the legislation passed without substantial objection.
