China, US hopefully will join treaty banning nuclear tests

VIENNA -- The head of the organization promoting an international agreement banning nuclear tests says he is confident of persuading the U.S. and China to ratify the treaty.

     It has been nearly 20 years since the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty was adopted and although more than 160 nations have ratified it, it has some significant distance to go before it comes into effect.
