China's No. 4 official to head top political advisory group

Wang Yang is known for his reformist bent and economic grasp

BEIJING -- The fourth-most-powerful official in the Chinese Communist Party was unanimously selected as chairman of the country's leading political advisory body on Wednesday.

Wang Yang, a member of the powerful Politburo Standing Committee, drew 2,144 yes votes and no abstentions or votes against to gain the top position at the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Former Politburo member Liu Qibao was among those chosen for one of 24 vice chair positions.
