SHANGHAI -- The Chinese Communist Party's Central Committee adopted the third historical resolution on Nov. 11, cementing President Xi Jinping's ambition to stay in power for a third five-year term and beyond.

Known as the Resolution of the Central Committee of the CCP on the major achievements and historical experience of the party over the past century, the full text of the lengthy document -- with some 36,200 Chinese characters -- was issued on Tuesday, weighing in less on historical narratives than on China's outlook.
