BEIJING -- Chinese President Xi Jinping on Saturday sealed his bid for a precedent-breaking third term while his deputy and several other top officials got the boot as the country's top leadership meeting wrapped up.

The official end of the twice-a-decade National Congress -- punctuated by the mysterious removal of former President Hu Jintao -- sets the stage for Xi to unveil his new inner circle on Sunday.
