China's NSC will likely have influence on territorial disputes with Japan and Southeast Asian countries.

TOKYO -- China's National Security Council will come into force soon. The new organization will handle critical policy issues, including foreign affairs, national security and maintenance of security inside the country.

     It is also expected to wield significant power regarding territorial disputes -- namely one with Japan over the Senkaku Islands and several others with Southeast Asian countries.
