SHANGHAI -- President Xi Jinping further consolidated his push for a third term Thursday, as the Chinese Communist Party's Central Committee featured the leader in a "historical resolution" adopted to celebrate the ruling party's centennial.
In a communique released by state news agency Xinhua, the party's top decision-making committee said nearly 350 members reviewed and passed the resolution. It acknowledged the Communist Party's leadership under Mao Zedong and successive leaders for building a stronger China but made no mention of any policy failures.
