SEOUL -- Chinese military vessels are searching waters near where a failed North Korean satellite launch vehicle fell at the end of May, the South Korean military said Monday, amid a growing race to recover debris from the crash.

The Chinese ships are conducting salvage operations in the Yellow Sea, 200 kilometers west of the South Korean island of Eocheongdo, according to the announcement. The South Korean side said it sees no need to respond to the development at this time.
