BEIJING -- China is developing a new stealth combat aircraft to be deployed on an aircraft carrier, Nikkei has learned. It will be a fifth-generation fighter jet with a stealth function and is expected to be deployed on China's third aircraft carrier, the Fujian.

The new jet's capability would raise the People's Liberation Army's ability to execute its strategies in the air and on the sea, increasing the country's threats to Japan and Taiwan.
