Dong Jun says big powers must lead on security, all have right to pursue interests

TOKYO -- Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun on Friday said all countries have the right to pursue their interests and vowed to enhance military cooperation.

Delivering a keynote address to the Beijing Xiangshan Forum on defense and security in the Chinese capital, Dong said every country "should have an equal right to participate in international affairs" and uphold their legitimate rights and interests. He called for an orderly "multipolar" world and said major powers bear a heavy responsibility amid growing geopolitical tensions.
